catching up

Hello! Here we are... we've got a little bit of catching up to do..

Linda brought these in to show us before Christmas... well.. where did that time go? That was 2 months ago!!!

Ooh, only 10 months to Christmas!! I will start Christmas sewing in August again... LOL!!

This table runner is made using one of the Wintergraphix prints. Linda used a mitred corner technique to make the best use of the border print. Wow. Can you imagine the possibilities of border prints? Yummy!!

This one was a Christmas gift... I am sure the recipient loved it and used it on Christmas Day.

Thanks for sharing with us Linda.

Rawhide - it's for cowgirls!

This super-cute selection of Rawhide fabrics (we've selected 12 pieces from the range) would be perfect to make clothes, accessories (and of course quilts) for your favourite cowgirl.
The colours and prints all look smashing with denim.
The Make It Perfect wrap skirt would look great in the large rose print (not pictured on this blog post).

I'd also like to make the Melly and Me horse from one of the horseshoe prints.

Cowgirl prints are hard to find - I am sure you will love these. Click here to see our selection of prints.

SPECIALS!

We've reduced the price on the Recipe For Friendship fabric range to only $14 per metre!

Only available while stocks last.

This retro range is reminiscent of the 1940s, and would make perfect aprons, tablecloths and kitchen accessories...even quilts! LOL!!
At this price the fabric will not last long. Perhaps you should buy it for quilt backing too!

Saree fabrics

Cheryl made use of her saree fabrics already!

She made this vest and this bolero jacket out of saree pieces.

Aren't the colours and designs just gorgeous? I love the way they catch the light. I plan to use my pieces in a quilt with cotton fabrics. The saree fabrics will add a special glow.

We've got more saree fabrics in store.

Thanks for sharing with us Cheryl. It's so good to see your show and tell!

Pieces of The Past coming soon

We are part of a very special programme operating amongst 9 Australian quilt shops.

Pieces Of The Past web sampler blocks are designed by Australian Michelle Yeo.

There are 9 blocks, 9 shops and 9 finished quilts.

Each shop will sell a kit including fabric for only one block. To collect all 9 blocks you will need to visit all 9 shops: online OR by phone OR in person.

Each shop is creating their own finished quilt - you can then choose to create your own quilt top using the 9 blocks designed by Michelle, or select one of the shop's finishing kits.

We are currently working on ours.

Andrea made most of the pieced blocks, while Lorraine made a couple.

Lorraine is now continuing with the applique... stay tuned to see the finished quilt very soon!! These are some of the blocks and part of Lorraine's applique for the finishing kit.

Happy Valentine's Day

Well.. darn it all, weren't we all excited when the flower delivery-man happened along in the middle of a class Sunday morning!!

What a mass of Giggling Gerts in the classroom area when our teacher Carol received these flowers from her "mystery admirer". "It won't be my husband" said Carol.

(But, her husband did drop in later, and they were from him... phew!)

Tutor and Pupil

Andrea (left) helps to hold Jenny's Cobblestone quilt.

Andrea designed this quilt layout especially for our Cobblestones class.

Jenny wanted to use pieces of her Mother's old chenille bedspread in this quilt, and she has.
I just love the fabrics Jenny chose - most of them are from the Metro Goes Au Naturel range - nearly all gone now!! Andrea designed the quilt to be made using every little piece of 24 fat quarters - here are the other pieces on the back.

What a nice change! You don't add anything to your stash after you have made the quilt top and back.
