(What a long sentence that was!!)

Presenting Miniatures 1860- 1890. Essential co-ordinates in small scale prints.

Also available in fat quarter and fat eighth packs.

I've made a few quilts in this colour range - Courthouse Steps, Tumbling Blocks and Log Cabin.

Baltimore Album ca 1847 fabric

Do you love the look of Baltimore Album quilts, and want to create your own?Or perhaps you would like to use the "cheater" prints in this fabric range to create an authentic looking reproduction without hours of appliqueing??You could easily piece blocks then use the flower designs as borders or feature fabrics. (Can you tell the original quilt was photographed to provide the fabric design?? The "fake applique" is quite realistic.)The ombre fabrics in this range (those are the ones that vary from light to dark across the bolt) are seriously accurate reproductions. Especially, for the Prussian blue print - the original Prussian blue fabrics were not colourfast. They looked fantastic, until they were washed. The ancient dyeing techniques cannot be replicated for safety reasons, so we cannot duplicate the bright blue that they obtained in the 1840s. However, our blues are colourfast, and more modern techniques are developed each year. I believe we are reaping the benefits in this fabric range.
Also available in fat quarter packs.

French Quarter fabrics

Taken from antique French prints, Paula Barnes' French Quarter is reminiscent of the genteel times when the European trade lines were flourishing in the South.
Everything from furniture, wallpaper, metalwork, porcelain, china and fabric from France was popular in the states during the 1800's.I have already started to design a quilt from these fabrics (okay, only in my head)....
What will you make with these 1800s reproduction fabrics? Also available in fat quarter and fat eighth packs.

More Pink and Chocolate

Presenting... you guessed it!! More Pink and Chocolate! I suppose the blog title gave it away... What a pleasing combination!!

This range features reproduction fabrics circa 1860-1885.

I obtained this information from the Windham fabric website:

The origin of chocolate brown used as a predominant color in printed fabric appeared with regularity in the nineteenth century. The color was worn by widows who had passed out of the stage of mourning, when they were expected to wear only black. The patterns used in these "mourning browns" were simple calicos, and not like the more stylized designs featured in this collection.

Yes! Warm pink and chocolates with the feel of 1800s fabrics, but in prints that we love for making quilts today.

More 19th centry fabrics...

We just had 6 boxes of fabric delivered... how exciting!!! Andrea and I "pumped fabric" as we totally rearranged hundreds of bolts of fabrics. That has to be good for the upper arms and shoulders!

This little selection is from the range "19th Century Reds", but I chose the prints with black in them. 1800s quilts contained quite a bit of black, and I think each of these has a bit of zing... especially with a little bit of red. We have bundled them together into fat eighth and fat quarter packs for your convenience.
These fabrics are at the special price of $19 per metre.

Banner Day

Every now and then you need an 1800s fabric with blue and red to emulate the patriotism felt at the time of the Civil War - which was greatly reflected in many quilts made around that time.

This little sampling of Jo Morton's Banner Day are perfect to slot in with your 1800s reproduction and civil war fabric stash.
We know a little of these can go a long way - available by the metre or in fat quarter and fat eighth packs. These fabrics will not last at the special price of $19 per metre.
