What a great day it was last Saturday week (how confusing does that sound??)!!
8 participants turned 12 fat quarters (3 metres of fabric) into a quilt top...
In one day everyone had their blocks made.. and only Monica's sewing machine overheated and stopped working!! (Although, Natasha says her machine was giving off a burning smell)...
We had to "force" everyone to down their tools to have a break for lunch!! LOL!!
Fiona's fabric
I missed photographing a few of the fabrics before the girls got started with the cutting... (Jim and I attended customers, while Sandra ran the class).. I thought, oh well, I'll get photos of the finished quilts.. but a couple of people snuck out without a piccie! Ah well, I hope we will see their quilts soon.
Monica has already brought hers in to work on the borders!!
Sylvia used Farmer's Market fat quarters
Tate selected a collection of pretty greens and pinks from the shelves. This is her first quilt (she is 13).
Sue loves purples - this is her first quilt.
Natasha chose Chelsea Manor fabrics for her first quilt.
Annette used Symphony fabrics - the class and some of the fabric were a gift from her work colleagues.
Fiona chose 1930s fabrics from the shelves. Black 1930s prints add an authentic feel as all the real quilts in the 30s contained some black.
Congratulations to all participants!! If you would like to join this class next term, please visit our website and click the "contact us" button.
The whole day class costs $60 if you use your own fabrics, or $30 if you purchase fabric from us.
